Anyway, beyond how beautifully written this is, I think my favourite part is the refrain: "Time doesn't like us anymore." Every time it returns, it carries a slightly different weight. At first, it sounds like grief; then it becomes realization; and by the end, acceptance. It's such a simple line, but it says what an entire paragraph couldn't: that sometimes nothing terrible happened. Time simply moved on, and it refused to take us with it. Which, I suppose, is the most hurtful part of all, tbh.
Anyway, I'll add mine too, because somehow, I think I can relate.
I reached back to borrow yesterday.
But even my heart refused the flame.
Some doors close from both sides.
I suppose ours was one of them.
